What am I looking at?
ALL of these images start out as digital photographs.
With the advent of the digital world, new tools are appearing in the creative arena, making the possibilities endless. New mediums are appearing. Digital Photography and Digital Art now take on a new process.
This is a description of my creative process:
- A picture is taken using different exposures (3 to 9 images) of the same scene (called bracketing). This process captures more detail and color than the camera can see in ONE exposure.
- These different exposures are then merged together using the information from the overexposed and underexposed image. This creates what is known as a High Dynamic Range (HDR) image. This is where the color saturation and added detail show up. This process is used in Hollywood for motion pictures.
- The combined image is then manipulated by hand via digital sketchpad. Details are added, blending, painting and shading are also added depending upon the image and the creativity of the artist.
- The final image can then be printed on the proper medium that would compliment the art. Canvas, watercolor paper or fine art textured paper are just a few types of paper used.
- If the image is printed on canvas, it is stretched and is then hand painted with a clear acrylic paint to give the picture texture and depth.
*Note: all of these prints are printed on archival papers and printed with the newest K3 120 year archival inks.
